Ece Özdemiroğlu is the founder and CEO of eftec. Her work focuses on the economic valuation of natural capital and the use of this evidence in accounting, nature finance and economic appraisal. She uses economic analysis to show the multiple economic benefits of investing in nature and adapting to climate change.
Her experience focuses on adaptation to climate change, air quality, water and waste water management, forest management, agriculture, value of information and cultural heritage. She continues to work with forward-thinking investors, businesses, NGOs, and central and local governments by encouraging them to consider their impacts and dependencies on nature and to view the ecosystems we depend on as assets rather than externalities. To complement these efforts, Ece champions multi-disciplinary working and better ways of communicating evidence, including the use of arts.

Convener of ISO Working Group (ISO TC 207/SC1/WG14) (2023-2025) preparing ISO 14054 which published ISO 14054:2025 on Natural Capital Accounting for Organizations in October 2025
Commissioner at the Value Commission (2022 – 2025)
Member of the UK Climate Change Committee (Adaptation) (2016 – 2022)
Co-founder, UK Network for Environmental Economists (2004 -)
She has also co-edited or co-authored 11 books and is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Environmental Economics and Policy.
Ece holds an MSc in Environmental and Resource Economics from University College London and a BA in Economics from Istanbul University; she works in both English and Turkish.
